John Buckley was involved in all four Leeds goals in an easy victory for the visitors. He beat the goalkeeper from close range for the first after just four minutes. In the twenty-fourth minute it was his cross that allowed Simon Grayson to score the Leeds second. It was Grayson that turned provider after two minutes of the second half as Buckley got his second and Leeds' third. Just four minutes into the second half, the game was over as a contest when Buckley created an opening for Bob Taylor to rifle the ball into the net from eighteen yards. Referee D. Long (Leeds)
